Important Packing Tips
Before you move there are a few things you must keep in mind.
Packing: If you wish to pack by your own make sure to buy a moving package from the Movers that does not including packing charges.
New Address: Check your new address properly before you hand it over to the mover you hired. There are several moving companies which inquire about the new address before moving.
Moving Papers: After you select a mover among the many moving enterprises and sign the deal, check the papers properly. Make sure that the moving rate, location and insurance (if any) is clearly mentioned on the papers. This will help you to make further claims in the future.
Now, if you are packing by your own here are some things that you must keep in mind. Often movers check the boxes before moving to ensure that they are packed properly. In case even one of the moving boxes is incorrectly packed they will ask you to redo it. This is done since for any damage caused while moving the moving company is held responsible.
- Use boxes that are strong and contain the capacity to hold your belongings.
- Seal the boxes properly after packing to avoid any leakage.
- Label each box according to the items inside and the rog one room after another.
- Loose items must be packed separately and carefully with extra tape added to the boxes.
- Fragile items must be properly padded and cushioned.
- Cushion the bottom of the cartons with thick layer of paper.
- Put heavy items at the bottom of the box and place other items accordingly.
- Bolts, crews and other tiny items used to assemble furniture must be kept in a safe box
- Pack emergency items at the end and keep them close by in order to unpack them the first. Some of these items include first aid kit, towels, toothpaste, toiletries, flashlight, dry food, beverages, plastic cups and reusable plastic bags.
- Pack liquid items with special care.
These are a few packing tips to keep in mind if you are not paying your movers for the packing job. In fact, if you are careful enough and can pack by your own, you can save several dollars while moving. Check the above mentioned list to ensure that nothing is left unnoticed.
